Last night i went for my sleep study. it was weird they glue these wires to your head. I got there 7pm. was in bed by 10pm i woke up at 4ish. I couldnt go back to sleep but it was ok because they were going to wake me up at 450. they took off the wires and i was left with this glue in my hair. i got home and washed my hair. now im comfortably in bed. The weird thing about this is I was already told i had sleep apnea. i have a cpap i dont use. I have to start using it because it required to be on my cpap for 6 weeks before i can have surgery. Any one else have to do this?

Yes! I went through Ellis Hospital. Don't know if your are going through them, or Albany. I actually had to go to a sleep study twice!  Once was to see if I had it, the second was to see what kind of pressure I needed for the CPAP. I know at Ellis they also want you to bring your CPAP with you to your surgery. It helps with getting oxygen into your blood stream, as well as the healing process.

This is normal. Good Luck with your journey!

I had a sleep study done 5 years ago to meet the insurance requirement prior to my first WLS, (Lap Band).  I wasn't sure that I had apnea but suspected I did and sure enough was in the moderate range.  I used my CPap machine faithfully and was amazed at the difference it made.  I woke up feeling rested and didn't feel like i was going to fall asleep during my commute to work.  Once I lost 115 lbs i stopped using my machine thinking that I was "cured".  I felt so much better over-all that I just didn't think I needed to bother.

Fast forward 5 years.  I am now having RNY surgery (hopefully in October) and in order to meet insurance criteria again i had to go back to the sleep doctor I hadn't seen in 4 years.  She admonished me (mildly) for stopping the machine without getting tested and reminded me that thin people can have apnea too.  Well, I had to start using my machine again so i can take it to the hospital when I have surgery and and wow!  can I just tell you what a difference it has made!  I feel so much better (even though I have gained back 60 lbs).  I'm getting a good 7-8.5 hours of sleep and feel happy about getting up in the morning.

Don't cheat yourself out of the benefits you can receive from using your machine.  Never mind the obvious health risks of apnea, a good nights rest will help you feel better, it is proven that a good nights sleep will help your efforts to lose weight.

Make sure you get one of the new nose pieces (I use the one that only covers my nose and the hose swivels upward).  There are much improved versions since my original apparatus.  Also make sure the pressure is appropriate.

It takes some getting used to but stick with it and enjoy a good nights sleep!
