For those of you who have "gained" weight suddenly

I am 6 years out and my weight is quite stable, usually varying only a pound or so (both up and down) but almost always sitting right around 145.  I usually only weigh myself on Saturday mornings.  I was 143 pounds on Saturday.  Yesterday, I splurged during football and had some tortilla chips with spinach queso dip and some pretzels (both high sodium snacks) and then I had Unjury chicken soup which is also high in sodium.  I noticed my rings were tight this morning, so I weighed myself out of curiosity (realizing how much salt I had yesterday).  Today, just two days after, the scale said 150! A "gain" of 7 pounds in 48 hours.

I ate very typically on Saturday and I adjusted my intake yesterday to account for the calories in the snacks (hence the protein soup for one meal) so not even a pound of that is fat.  It is ALL water.

So, if you are in the losing phase and see a "gain" on the scale, rest assured tha****er retention CAN cause a significant increase in your weight.  Also remember that you have to ingest about 3500 extra calories to gain an actual pound of fat... So unless you are eating a LOT more than you should be, you are NOT gaining.

LOL - Good one, Kelly! But, I don't think it's possible to stretch the pouch with soda unless you drank it through a straw...*runs and hides*

Kelly,

First of all, thank you for all your posts, and all your answers, even though some of them I don't like to hear...lol

Second on this post  "stretched your pouch and your broke your RNY?" what does that mean exactly, is there o possibility of what she ate, it actually busted her pouch as in tore it open?  I would think that would be almost deadly, has that ever happened to anyine that you know of and does it just close up own it's own?

I was joking.  You can't stretch your pouch with liquids, carbonated or not.  And I do not know of anyone that actually ate so much it tore open their pouch, no.  I would think that would be extremely unlikely.
