B complex making pouch burn?

I am just using a generic kind of B Complex that I originally got as a buy-one-get-one-free at Krogers.  I originally was not taking a B-complex at all, but then when my thiamin level tanked, I started taking it.  It is a pretty big pill and, unless I take it with a lot of water, it causes a burning sensation in my pouch.  It only lasts about 15 minutes, but I am wondering if this is common with a B Complex.  I will use up what I already have (which, unfortunately, is two large bottles!) but if it isn't a common issue, I will likely buy something else to alternate with it.

Anyone else have this issue? Is there a brand that is supposed to be easy on the tummy?

Lora I take a B complex and haven't had any reaction to it.

My guess would be it's not actually the B vitamins making your pouch burn but something else in it, like some sort of filler or coloring or something.  All the B vitamins that are in that B complex are also in your multi, and that doesn't make your pouch burn, right?

So I would try a different brand.  Maybe read the inactive ingredients on the labels and pick a brand that has different ingredients, if possible.

I wonder if what you are experiencing is an alternate version of the Niacin Flu**** supposedly dilates blood vessels and can cause people to feel hot and flushed. Maybe it is dilating blood vessels in your pouch causing pain? Totally just guessing! Are you taking a B-50 or B-100? I take a B-50 to avoid the Niacin Flush and have not had any ill effects. This is the one I take: http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=SL-1148#.Uh_6B-Ceupw

I don't know if that would cause a burning sensation in the pouch, but Lora, you could try just taking a thiamine supplement instead of the B complex if it's just the B1 you were low on.

One of the other B vitamins was below the midpoint of the reference range, so i decided that the complex was probably appropriate.  I did do a cursory search on B complex posts and didn't see anything about it (and since I wasn't taking one for so long, I never read any of them originallyl!).  Yes, it may be one of the fillers. Guess I will just try a (small) bottle of another brand.

It's a B 50 since that was what was on my surgeon's original "you might also need these supplements" list.

I haven't noticed anything except the pouch burning but it happens consistently unless I drink enough to wa**** well into the intestine (so it may also be the upper part of the intestine that reacts to it).

I can't take b-complex pills. I get nausea and burping. Also most of them have too much B6. At one point my B6 got too high. Now I take B1, B2, folic acid in capsules. The rest of B I get from multi and other products. Watch for B6 too much is toxic.

Thanks, Hala.  I am considering just doing the two B supplements that I was a bit low on rather than the whole complex.  Just have to go back to my labs to look to see which one it was...
