How long did you have to wait before driving?   How long did you have to take off work?

I was told it was fine to drive as soon as I stopped taking pain meds, which was about five days post op for me.

I ended up being off work for about three months due to some complications.

I could have driven home from the hospital. My criteria were being off pain and nausea meds, and being able to turn around to look behind you in either direction. My mother drove me home, of course.

I had surgery on a Tuesday and could have gone back to work the following Monday. I decided to take the whole two weeks that I had been approved for. That was probably for the best. I felt like my energy level was fine, but I was taking three-hour naps.

I drove the day after discharge - you have to be free of narcotics for a minimum of 24 hours ...

I had surgery WEdnesday, got out of the hospital Saturday morning and didn't take any paid meds once I left the hospital. I was able to drive to support group on Tuesday. Once you're off pain meds you can drive usually.

I go back to work on Tuesday, that is six weeks off for me. I am a PSW at a retirement home and because of lifting etc it wasn't advised to go back to soon(though the surgeon let me decide). I did not drive for nearly a week not because I couldn't...I was scared because I had suffered a few spells of low blood sugar (I'm not diabetic) and didn't want it to happen while driving.

About a week.. It took about 2 weeks for me to try and live a normal life. Take it easy, no two people are alike and it just takes time.. :)

I took one week off, drove after 8 days I think...trying to recall. I WFH, so I did not have to drive to work.
