Driving after surgery
I was told it was fine to drive as soon as I stopped taking pain meds, which was about five days post op for me.
I ended up being off work for about three months due to some complications.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I had surgery on a Tuesday and could have gone back to work the following Monday. I decided to take the whole two weeks that I had been approved for. That was probably for the best. I felt like my energy level was fine, but I was taking three-hour naps.
I go back to work on Tuesday, that is six weeks off for me. I am a PSW at a retirement home and because of lifting etc it wasn't advised to go back to soon(though the surgeon let me decide). I did not drive for nearly a week not because I couldn't...I was scared because I had suffered a few spells of low blood sugar (I'm not diabetic) and didn't want it to happen while driving.
About a week.. It took about 2 weeks for me to try and live a normal life. Take it easy, no two people are alike and it just takes time.. :)

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way. Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
