Just got a Cold and less than a week till surgery?
I am on the liquid diet so things like orange juice and chicken soup I can't have. I did make chicken soup though and strain the broth to have so it has more of what you get out of chicken soup than just some broth.
I am just afraid if I am not better by surgery date they will postpone.
Every surgeon is different. I had a cold and my surgeon said as long as my fever stayed around 100 I would be fine. He said they would give me a decongestant in the OR anyway that would dry me out.
However, I have seen others that had to postpone. I would let the surgeon know. You don't want to show up at the hospital and have to postpone.
I saw a YouTube video where a man said that coughing is horrible, and sneezing is worse. As much as it sucks to postpone, I think it's the best advice. Sorry sweetie.
I'm purposely not going to the gym because I don't want to be exposed. I have always suspected that my last few colds were caught at the gym. Or the grocery cart. I'm going to be very germophobic in the next 3 weeks!

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way. Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
I had a cold, cough, and sore throat the day before surgery and they told me they would do the surgery as long as my fever was not over 100. My surgery was at 7:30 am so I took a cold shower in the morning and totally downplayed my cough. I had the surgery and was glad I did just because I had already cleared my schedule and would have needed to wait for months to reschedule, but my cough turned into bronchitis and I had a pretty miserable two weeks with no energy.
Part of my problem was I was so busy trying to get my protein, vitamins, and water in that it never occurred to me that I could take the antibiotic and codeine for the bronchitis. Once I did that, I finally got some sleep and starting feeling better quickly. One positive, was that I felt so miserable from the bronchitis that I barely noticed the bypass and really didn't mind the liquid diet.
If you do have a bad cold and are able to wait a week or two, that would probably be better, but if not it's just one more unpleasantness that first week.
I got sick like 3 days before surgery. We had been battling strep around my house. I called my family dr and got on something and I i called my surgeon's office and told them. They said we would see how i felt the day before surgery. I felt better and they took my word that i was better and we proceeded.
I would be honest with your surgeon. I was prepared for it being postponed for the illness but so thankful it was not. I have heard stories that went both ways. My very best wishes. Feel Better Soon!!
