You know you can set up the goals on all foods on their full website version - calories proteins -fats - carbs- sugar and fiber...

I did that to track not only calories but set my own goals for each one...

I don't hit 1200 calories until I am 1 year out. My husband just hit 1200 calories and he is 10 months out.

My goal is to eat nothing with more than 20g of carbs in a serving until I meet my goal.

I make choices on carbs--so I don't avoid the carbs in milk products or beans, but I have not had a baked good cross my lips in months! My husband on the other hand, will have a low carb wrap from time to time or low fat tortilla chips (he counts out 10 of them, which is not a full serving) and eats them with a meal.

Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

I guess this is another example of how all Surgeons basically have their own guidelines.... My Surgeon & Nutritionist say to stay away from Carbs as much as I can (I'm about month & 1/2 out). In a perfect situation, they would like me to pick foods at 4 carbs or under lol, which is easy to do with chicken & fish. The same with my protein shakes, the carbs are supposed to be under 4g. If you're worried about calorie intake, sodium intake, etc... Do what I'm doing ~ I keep track of everything on MyFitnessPal, (which I have specified on mine to track calories, carbs fat, protein, sodium, & sugar), but I copied all of those amounts down for each day of this past week to show the nutritionist when I see her & get her opinion. I'm doing this cuz I don't feel like I'm losing weight :/

My biggest issue with this would be it eliminates virtually all dairy products. Cheese and yogurt are foundations of my diet.

thanks this is really what I was looking for. If your nutritionist gives you any good advice, id love for you to pass it on! I have been consistently losing weight. More than I could presurgery but not quite as much as I think I'm supposed to after surgery so I just want to keep things documented so i can work on things with my nutritionist in a few weeks if need be.

i go to a support group and the dietician recommended 30% of your calories be carbs.  so if you are doing 1200 calories it would be 90 grams of carbs.  I get most of those in vegetables and fruit.  my pouch hates bread most days!!

My surgeon highly recommends low carb. I have stopped low carb and gained and i know its my fault.

I am on the Adkins food plan as I have discovered I am carb sensitive. It affects me like alcohol does an alcoholic. Ever since I got off of simple carbs completely I have been able to control my cravings much better. Just because we have bypass surgery doesn't mean we will not have cravings. Mine were raging after surgery but when I went off simple carbs those cravings were calmed down from a raging tiger to a kitten. My plan is 20-30g carbs, 60-70g protein and the fats fall around 20-30g a day. Protein first, fluids next, and carbs last. My fat is usually high (as I love, love cheese) but my last blood test showed my cholesterol was perfect. (ldl, hdl, total chol., and triglycerides) Everyone is different but I tried several things before this. That's the beauty of the bypass, it gives me time to explore my needs and weaknesses. We all have one year to explore. Good luck finding your path. I hope I was of some help.
