End of the month excitement...

On the 27th, I will be six years post-op (and am maintaining my weight loss).  Yay me!  angry

On the 28th, I will be 51 years old (but look better than I did at 41... and overall -- minus the thighs and the crow's feet -- probably better than I did at 31, too.)

Then.... drumroll, please....

On the 30th, I will officially be "Dr. Lora"!!!  kiss     broken heart

Six years ago, I got a RNY for my birthday.  This year I get a diploma!  (Well, I won't have the actual piece of paper until until a few weeks later, but still...)  It has been such a long (and expensive!) road, and there have been many times when I wondered if I would ever get that little piece of wall decoration and if it was really worth the time, money, and frustration. (Paying off the student loans is going to be painful, but it couldn't be avoided.)  Not bad for someone who got an Associate's degree right after High School nut then didn't finish her Bachelor's degree for another 13 years!  (I also collected three Master's degrees along the way, so it seems like I have been in school most of my life once I went back to finish my B.A.!)

Now, how shall I celebrate completing my dissertation defense today...?  Something that involves Strawberry Haagen Dazs, I'm sure!!

Right now, I'm off to the vet with Gus to see how much 8 month old Mr. Piggy weighs and to talk to her about the combined heartworm and flea treatments.

If there was a word greater than congratulations I would use that right now. I'm 30 and going back to school in the fall for my B.A. So I can only imagine how amazing you're feeling right now. Those are quite the accomplishments young lady! You inspire me! Enjoy that Haagan Dazs! You deserve it!

Also I adore your dog. Ever time you post updates and pictures I can't help but smile.

Congratulations!  I knew you'd do it.

I use the Advantage Multi topical flea and heartworm prevention for Isaac.  It works well - he's not had a single flea on him since I've had him.  It's kinda costly, but it does the job.

The one guy was a bit of an ass, as expected, and tried to pull in some really tangential topics, but both my Chair and one of the other committee members reigned him in.
