Its not broken and MRI shows nothing. Thoughts about the pic of my ankle.
So about 6 weeks ago I started having a lot of pain in my right ankle. I went to the Dr. because I thought I had sprained it. While I was in San Diego for my monthly follow up appointment with my surgeon I had a blow out on the freeway and thought I had injured it somehow trying to change my tire. (Thank you again to the kind stranger who saved me and changed it for me). Anyway, I have had an X-ray and an MRI both show nothing that would make my ankle look like it does. It throbs all day to the point I broke down and asked my regular Dr. for something to help with the pain. I am in so much pain that I am not sleeping.
If you look at the picture you can see some darker red spots. They are hard and its like a ridge. I have a few of them and the longest one is about 2 inch and runs from my ankle bone around to the front. The Dr. thought maybe it was gout but all the test are negative for that. They tested me for RA but the result are negative for that as well.
Anyone have any idea what this could be? Have you ever seen something like this? I go to the orthopedic specialist on Monday morning but I am so miserable. I can't wait to get off work and go home and take something to make this pain go away.
I have had alot of pain in my left ankle for the last few months, but no redness like you have. I saw an orthopedic Dr who ex-rayed and examined it and the diagnosis is Achilles Tendonitis. I have had to massage it with a prescription ointment for the last month with little to no improvement. I go back to the doctor this week for further evaluation, possibly he will prescribe physical therapy. I really hope your trip to the orthopedic doctor will properly diagnose your problem. Good Luck !
Starting to think its a good thing I work for a physical therapist!! I am the office manager and sit at a desk all day so I keep it propped up as much as I can and keep it iced. He has done the Kineso tape on it to help stabilize it. The X-ray and the MRI both showed nothing was wrong. However it obvious there is SOMETHING wrong. I hope to have some answers come Monday morning when I go to the orthopedic specialist. If he does not know what is going on then I will go to San Diego to another Dr. there. I live in a small town and I am going to see the best specialist in the town. Thank you for all the replies and I will let you know what I find out Monday morning.
