Since my surgery I've noticed that I bruise much more easily! I have bruises everywhere! Anyone else experienced this?

Is your iron low?

I'm not sure. I haven't had my blood work done yet.

If you're bruising very easily, you might want to get that checked.

I'very recently moved and need to find a new doctor. I'll probably just go to my PCP. Are there certain tests I should request? I'm almost 8 weeks post-op.

CBC, iron and ferritin, is what I would start with.  At three months out, you should probably have a full set of labs.

Also ask to have your vitamin K checked.  Low vitamin K can result in what would have been a teeny bruise (that might not even show) being bigger because your blood does not clot quickly enough.

I do bruise more easily now....apparently because there is not as much distance between surface skin and bone.

My stomach looks like a pin cushion. Black and blue all over. but I'm giving myself shots 2x a day .   I never bruised like this , ever, before RNY .

If the injections are a blood thinner (e.g., Lovenox), it is the medication that is causing the bruising, not the surgery.
