tattooed ladies
So my husband and I have been talking about getting a tattoo together for awhile (I do not currently have any). We each want a line from each other's wedding vows written below the left collar bone right above the heart. I am hesitant to do it anytime soon though because I am worried that with only being 6wks post op, I have alot more weight to lose and I don't want it distorted by my weightloss, especially being lettering. However, this doesn't seem like an area on the body that would really change much? What do y'all think? Have you had tattoos that just don't look right anymore? Do you think it's a safe location or should we just wait?
I have a tattoo on my inner forearm and it's been resistant to any weight fluctuations. I think the area you've chosen should be pretty good as long as you're not going down far enough to be on your actual breast. If you go that far down, you might be in for some distortion. I have one pro for doing it early on rather than later--when you get a tattoo on an area that doesn't have much padding, it tends to hurt a lot more. If you have a bit of padding there now, it might not be as painful! :D
Also make sure to get friend recommendations on a shop and artist, triple-check the spelling and make sure it's a lettering style you'll love for the rest of your life!

Great question and good advice from the first responder. I had told my hubby months ago that when I got to onederland I was getting a tatoo ( my first). I am just barely in onederland , but think I will wait a little bit longer. I am not sure about placement and was really worried about distortion too.
Keep us posted,

I think that is a great idea! very sweet but I personally think you should wait because of the location... But it all depends on your body and how much weight you have to loose, especially in the area of where you want the tattoo.. I have a tattoo that is distorted, but it was on my stomach (I got it before gaining my weight) so it obviously stretched with me and is shrinking with me, lol. Your weight is going to come off quite fast, so maybe waiting a few months won't hurt because you never know.
I would personally wait..........I want another one as well, But I'm too scared to get in while I'm still losing!
LOL, I'd definitely have ended up with a stomach tattoo!! The girls have gone SOUTH!
I have 3 tattoos. One on each arm and one on my right wrist. One is for my kids, one is in memory of my grandma, and the other is just something that has a personal meaning. The shallow side of me is worried about them being "messed up" with rapid weight loss, but my thinking is..... if they look that bad, I can always get tattoos to cover them later on. The other side of my thinking is, on one of them, I can already tell that I have gained weight since I got it because it has messed it up some (probably not noticeable to anyone except me though). I have been wanting to get another tattoo for a while now, but I've been toying with the idea of WLS since Nov 2011. (I didn't actually see the doc for the first time until May of this year) Personally, if it was me... I would wait. I don't plan on getting any more tattoos until my weight has stabilized after surgery.
