Question on Sublingual B-12

Right after my WLS, I was swallowing mine.  I know my surgeon had said it should be sublingual and I knew the bottle said sublingual but I hated the taste and I didn't understand why it needed to be sublingual, so I figured I could just swallow it whole, since I was swallowing other pills.  If my surgeon had explained to me why it needed to be sublingual, I wouldn't have done that.  But not understanding the reasoning behind it, it seemed logical to me that I could just swallow it.  Thank goodness someone explained it to me before my B12 got really low.

Nature's Bounty makes a liquid sublingual that tastes great. Hold for 30 seconds under tongue, then swallow.
