I'm 8 weeks out 61 yrs old and hit 40 lbs after stalling in 7th week and dropping 6 lbs after that. BUT inches are falling off when you have slowed weight loss! I glanced myself in a store mirror and couldn't believe the difference between 1st month and the end of 2nd month! I started out at 322 on surgery day and weigh 282 now...but my clothes are getting bigger by the day and I can wear pants 2 sizes smaller plus my skirts are way too big now! So dont get down at your number as long as you follow your plan you'll lose ! Good luck!

I am assuming since you posted in the RNY forum that is what you did have? RNY gastric bypass? Having said that and assuming it to be accurate?,,,,,,DO NOT WORRY! Your concerns that you have not lost as much as some others is a concern I once had too. I was told all the same things you are being told, "don't compare yourself ", and on and on, but it is true. I was worried that I was not keeping up with Kardashians/jonses and was I possibly doing something wrong? (boy, did I get lambasted for that,...told "you are not special")? In the end, 16 months out,..I have lost all my weight and surpassed my goal. Believe me when I tell you, that with this surgery, IT WILL HAPPEN UNLESS YOU MAJORLY F UP AND DON'T FOLLOW THE RULES OF YOUR SURGEON! Just follow what has been layed out for you, don't forget that exercise is a big part of it and you will reach your goal. Lots of stops and starts along the way, don't let it get you down. Sometimes I would stall on the scale for five weeks and then,..BAM drop like crazy. Just keep doing what you are supposed to be doing and it's in the bag!

I am nearly 9 weeks post-op and lost 33 pounds. I am a slow loser, but I am not focusing too much on the weight. I also have had no problems with any food so far. I am feeling so much better about myself

Thank God for everyone's responses. I'm almost six weeks out and I've only lost about 18 pounds. I lost 39 pounds pre-op, but that took me three months. I know slow loss is common, but it's still frustrating and a little discouraging.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their journey. I'll be 7 weeks out in 2 days and I'm only down 27 lbs. since surgery, or 34 lbs. if you add on the loss from my 2-day pre-op liquid diet. I've been feeling discouraged and it's wonderful to hear of the long term success of other "slow" losers! I think I'm going to be okay. 😊

That's not considered slow loss, what makes you think this rate is "slow"? That's rapid weight loss...

I didn't consider it slow until these last three weeks. My loss has slowed to 1-2 lbs. a week. I went 8 days w/o any loss. I know that's normal, but it's hard when you're eating about 600-700 calories a day and making healthy choices.

I had surgery June 18th so will be 7 weeks out on Tues. and I have "only" lost 21 lbs since surgery, 29 llbs since June 2nd with 2 week liquid diet. I have been very disappointed in my weight loss so far. However I know it would be zero wirhout surgery and I have been feeling so weak and tired I have not been going to the gym. My daughter who is an RN says I am not getting enough protein or liquids in and that could be a reason for the tired and weakness. She wants me to start keeping a journal. And it is that TOM and I am so bloated and I get major migraines during this time as well so I have been eating and drinking nearly nothing. Anyhow I would be ecstatic with 35 lbs!!!

Everybody is different.

For instance, I have only lost 49 pounds since my surgery 27 MONTHS ago.

I eat right, walk 2 miles a day and still cant get close to my goal weight!
