blood clots in my vomit . . . ER
So I am almost 4 years out and have always had a problem with vomiting. . . . today however was different. . . fresh blood clots.
So off to the ER I went . . . wanna know what they did . . .NOTHING . . . CBC to check my blood count which was crazy low . . . and they sent me home. . . no ultrasound, no scope, no xray . . . . NADA . . . just said to call my gastro in the morning??
Anyone have any suggestions on what to do or what could be wrong? Anyone have this issue??
Possible ulcer? What part of your CBC was 'crazy low'? Your hemoglobin/hematocrit? If it was low, plus you have fresh blood in your vomit, I'm surprised you were sent home, too! Have you noticed blood in your stool? Either fresh or coffee-ground looking old blood? Definitely call your physician first thing in the morning... and if you continue vomiting blood or feel any worse, get to the ER again, even if you have to go to another one.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way. Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
Next time you go in, take your vomit with you ... Same if you have blood in your stool - take it in with you! Lots of people show up in the ER and exaggerate what is going on (one person's blood streak is another person's huge clots)
If you can show them, they're more likely to do something about it!!!

My husband had this.....it was a bleeding esophageal ulcer. Fortunately, he vomited IN the ER and almost ON the ER nurse, so they believed him. Kim is right! Take your vomit with you!

I am not making any excuses for your local ER, but I must say that as I used to work in an extremely busy urban ER, we tended to not take too seriously anyone who claimed they had blood in their vomit/stool/urine/etc unless we could actually see it ourselves. So the people who are telling you to bring the bloody vomit in with you are giving you good advice.
I am not saying that is right, but as we were routinely triage-ing 20 patients an hour, we couldn't afford to get excited about someone who saw some red pepper flakes or lint from a red sweater in their poo and mistook it for blood.
When you say blood count, do you mean hematocrit? Hemoglobin? What was the number?
