Work and RNY
I had 6 weeks off and I am glad I did. I had no complications or issues and probably could have gone back to my desk job after 3 weeks and been OK BUTTTT i used that last 3 weeks to get good rest and really start getting on a schedule with vitamins, food, protein, and exercise that would fit into my work schedule. started getting up at normal time and going to bed at normal times and fitting in workouts during times I really would be able to once I started working. I still needed a nap during the day but I was thankful for having the time to plan my schedule. I think without that time while i would have been physically okay I would have been emotionally a mess! I would have been to overwhelmed to try working and figuring in my schedule all at once. My Short Term Disability gave me 6 weeks it was during a VERY busy time at work but I took it. It was time to make myself the priority and all for all the world did not end at work with me being gone! I know not everyone can have this luxury but if your disability gives you the time I say take the extra time.

i had a full time retail supervisor job at the time and ran around like crazy at work. i went back after 2 weeks, and that was more than enough time for me. everyone heals at different rates. have you had other surgeries? how have you recovered from them? it's not a guarantee but can at least give you somewhat of an idea.
I would wait until March.. Some people are OK to go back to full time job 3 weeks after, but some get tired very easily and need =more time for recovery.. Why risk both- recover and your job? If you get stressed - your healing and your recovery may suffer - do you want to risk that? On the other hand - if you need to stay longer in the hospital or get some minor complications that may make you miss work - can you afford that?
Only you can make a decision if you want to postpone the surgery or not. I would.
BTW: I had no complications but my energy was low for first 2-3 months. I was happy that I did not needed to work more than 8 hrs per day and that some days I could go home early.
