pain after surgery?

When I woke up in recovery, the nurse asked me to rate the pain and I said 3. I then checked under the hospital gown to see if the did anything. When I was in hospital, I accepted the pain meds that they dispensed. I started tooting approx 24 hours after surgery so no major gas pains. When I was discharged, I took one hydropmorhone pill the night to sleep, but I didn't really need it. I didn't bother with anything else after that.

I have had a c-section, given birth VBAC to a 10 lb baby, had both my shoulders done, both knees done and both wrists have had carpal tunnel releases and various broken bones and other injuries over the years. So I have a fair amount of experience with pain, pain management and surgery recoveries.
Other than my VBAC, I have never had such a low pain procedure EVER. I was up and walking around within a few hours of surgery and while I had a less than comfortable day 4 and 5 (mornings, both) I never had anything I'd rate above a 5. Mostly 2 and 3. Mild pain. Now, to be clear, I had Lap RNY, not open. That would be closer to the c-section, IMO.
