Super Frustrated with myself - almost 1 year

Hello Everyone!  Happy Friday Eve day :-)  I just had to vent a little bit - and look for some support for anyone who is willing to give it.

I am almost a year out from RNY 8/22/2012 - I was 295 at my highest weight - I would say 289 when I came home from the hospital and I am currently 185........I am SO frustrated with my loss.  I look in the mirror and still see the 295 pound me and I feel like I should have lost more - I would LOVE to weigh 160 but it feels like I am just stuck.

Also my other dillemma - my pant size is making me INSANE!  I am completely pear shaped (thanks Mom) and even though I have lost 100+ pounds I am still wearing my size 18 jeans.......I wear a size 16 dress pants........I see so many people talking about sixe 10, and Medium and it makes me SOOOOO sad.  I feel like I will never get there.  I am still wearing plus size clothing on the bottom and it makes me so mad.

There are people that I know who have lost 130 pounds - but I am at my measly loss - I know when I say it I sound insane but it just makes my heart hurt.  I should be better about exercising - I know....I had better get off my pity pot and get my arse moving if I want to get out of these size 18 jeans!

Thanks for letting me vent!

Why can't you lose the rest?   You absolutely can lose another 25lbs in the next six months if you eat well and exercise ...

Probably can't do anything about your pear shape, I'm afraid - thank goodness having a booty is more fashionable these days and sooooo much more attractive than old lady flat bum!

Thanks for the message :-)  I guess I am an idiot and kinda thought that the big losing period was during the first year and then you were just kind of where you were.  I do need to stop with the pity party and get on it.  I think I just feel like I am struggling because it is not coming off as fast as it did before which makes sense.....it is not magic right?

Yep - the shape is here to stay - thank goodness my hubby likes a booty - I sure have one.  It makes me want to trip him so he falls down though when he jokingly says my butt doesn't look any smaller - I know it is - what a nerd!  Yay booty!

Starting weight at consult 342....surgery weight 314....at 2 years and almost 3 months I have lost exactly 100 lbs (got there 2 weeks ago) and weigh 214. Soooooooooo hope that gives you a bit of perspective on comparing to others. By the way I am still losing just real reallllll slow and it takes a freaking lot of work to get it done but its happening. Size 16. I was down 80 lbs at one year and lost nothing in the next 6 months from there. Everyone is different but if you continue to work at it no reason you wont make your goal.

You still have time to lose more if that's what you want.  It may come off slower but it can come off with work.  You've lost 110 lbs in almost 11 months, nothing to sneeze about.

Well you could be like me and have noassatall and very little hips too.

25 lbs is very much doable still; hang in there.  As for still seeing the larger you, it takes time to see the changes.  Continue to take progress pictures and if you kept a pre-op outfit put it on and take a picture in it.  It will give you a perspective of how far you've come in a short time.  Many have said it takes 2 years + to see the changes.  I believe I was almost 3 years out before I really grasp how much different I looked.

You are almost exactly like me.  I was 301 at my consult, but I got down to 280 when I had my surgery.    At 9 months I was 180 and probably about 170 at one year.    My original goal weight was 160.  It took me 18 months to get there.  At a little over 2 years I am down to 145.  I am 5'8 so that is a pretty good weight for me.  I can still loose, but very slowly.  I have to exercise a lot and really watch what I eat.

Don't get me started on clothing sizes.  Body shapes are so different.  Everyone wants to be a 4 or 6, but I don't think that is possible for all of us.  We gotta work with the body our mama gave us.Like you I am a pear.  I have nothing on top and can wear a small, but usually go to a medium because of the extra skin on my arms.  On bottom I am a 10 on a good day.  I can wear a size 8 in pants from the loft and up to a 12 in jeans.  People tell me I look good.

There will be a point when your body decides it is done, but I don't think you are there yet.  You have plenty of time to lose weight.  It is slower and harder the farther out you are, but it is totally doable.

Hang in there and vent all you want.
