My husband did not, nor did I. Our surgeon does not opt for them, says they cause too many issues with infections. I would ask your surgeon specifically, there is such a wide range of practices shared here.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

I had one and was thankful for it.  They put it in while I was under and removed it the next day.  It didn't hurt at all.  I'm thankful I had it because I couldn't imagine trying to get up and go while on Morphine.  =)

I didn't have one. It was really hard to go on my own right after surgery though.

They put mine in while I was under, but wouldn't take it out until I was ready to go home. It made walking in the hospital really uncomfortable.

The next time I have trouble starting the lawn mower, I'm going to call the nurse who took the catheter out. She had a very strong, fast pull.

They put mine in while I was under and took it out a few days later. I was apprehensive about it before the operation but then after it didn't even matter to me and when the nurse took it out I wasn't embarrassed in the least...I was pretty drugged lol.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

I'm a nosey woman so I had to peek!!!

I had my catheter inserted after I was put out in surgery. But it wasn't taken out until two days later. Then, I was still u able to pee (anesthesia can really mess with you) and had to be re-cathed). It was the first time I was happy about getting one too lol! I had to pee so bad but just couldn't make it happen!
