Taco Bell Refried Beans or Pintos n cheese ?
I know I wouldn't make this a regular thing, I'm only asking about a one time thing. I'll most like get the canned Fat Free kind from the store. So I think I may start pureed tomorrow (fingers crossed !!) and I was wondering if I could try some of The Pintos & Cheese or Refried Beans from Taco Bell. Even if it's only a few of bites of it so I don't get sick. I also get conflicting ideas on here whether Refried Beans are considered "Pureed" or "Soft Food". I also went onto Eggface's website, and the 1st thing listed under "Pureed" was refried beans.

The fat content of the items from Taco Bell may bother you.
FF refried beans were listed as puréed on the info I got from the first surgeon I considered for my surgery (the surgeon who actually did my surgery didn't have a liquid or puréed stage... We went straight to soft foods on Day Three).

I put shredded cheese and taco sauce on them. If you're going to put a lot of cheese on them, I'd go with fat free or low fat. If you're only gonna use a pinch, I don't think it matters. You don't have to avoid all fat, just be careful about adding too much fat right now. It's not that some full fat cheese (or beans or whatever) will hurt your weight loss or damage your pouch or anything like that. It's just that many people have sensitive pouches at first and too much fat may very well send you to the bathroom for a very unpleasant potty experience. As you get further out, you will probably tolerate larger amounts of fat (of course you don't want to eat huge amounts of fat ever or that will start to effect your weight, but most likely refried beans from taco bell will be Ok somewhere down the road, although everyone is different with regard to what they can tolerate).
You might want to use a mild taco sauce at first, too. Spicy stuff did not bother me even right after surgery, but again, some people have more sensitive pouches, especially at first.
If you like sour cream, try some plain Greek yogurt on your beans, instead. tastes like sour cream, but high in protein.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
You won't want to eat it cold (ew!) so once you microwave the beans with the cheese, everything will melt together. Pureed basically just means anything that you wouldn't have to chew, which refried beans and melted cheese should be. :)

Taco Bell Pintos and Cheese with sour cream added is one of my favorite fast food go-to's, even now. Tons of protein, nice and mushy when you are having a bad pouch day.
If you are sensitive to fat, you can try making your own, otherwise I'd say go for it. I don't have problems with fat, but I know some RNY-ers do.
