literally dumping EVERYTIME I eat

I had my 2wk post op appt today. I saw the nutritionist first and told her about how every time I eat or drink anything bu****er I get really dizzy and god awful and explained my symptoms and that the only way to avoid it is to eat ultra slow meaning a baby spoon bite every 5mins or so spacing out a meal from 30mins- an hour for 1/2 a cup or less. She said that it sounded like dumping and I would just have to do my hour long meal until I'm better able to handle it.

I was really surprised but told my surgeon that the nutritionist said I was dumping every time I ate and all that. He said I highly doubt that and asked my symptoms. I told him and he said wow you really are.

I thought dumping was caused by too much sugar or  fat. I eat very little sugar and fat free everything. My surgeon said that its caused by carbs and that I obviously have a very sensitive pouch but that it should improve in time. In the mean time, he said to do the same thing the nutritionist told me and take it ultra slow.

Overall Im still happy because as annoying as it is to eat that slowly, its not a bad trade off for the weight loss.

I am 13days post op. Feeling good. And down 13lbs since surgery.

Its literally everything bu****er. Things I eat- protein shakes, blended broccoli and ff sour cream to make soup, ricotta drizzled with spaghetti sauce, tomato soup, cream of broccoli, canned chicken and tomato and ff mayo blended

what you listed all or all of that may have some lactose in it or sugar - i.e. protein shake, sour cream, ricotta, etc.

Ay tomato sauce - has sugar in it and acid - and it took me over a year to tolerate tomato product. Some people have intolerance to artificial sweeteners.. cream of broccoli- I still may get runs on that... 5 years out.. FF mayo - there is so many chemicals in it and I never could tolerate that..

It may be your choice of food... sorry...

idk but both nutritionist and surgeon said my choices of food are good, and it's not a problem if i eat super slow. Even the most gentle thing, broth, does it to me. I have not had any problems with nausea or vomiting though

I just wanted you to know that most of the food you are eating would upset my pouch - that is 5 years old..

Once the pouch is upset - it may stay upset for a day... some of us have very finicky pouches.. I can't eat food with lactose - even tomato product - I need to be very careful. But I can eat beef, and cheese, and pork and some (not all ) whey protein shakes. (only whey isolate and none with artificial sweeteners) and so on...

But cottage cheese - O boy... more than 1 tsp and I have the runs...

Most of this would upset mine, too, Hala.

I am 8 weeks out today and you have listed a lot of things I cannot tolerate now, let alone at 13 days. BROCCOLI? Wow. We were told to hold off until at least 6 months for that.

Protein shakes and tomato soup are what I can eat from your list. The sour cream would have me praying for divine intervention. And you are putting actual tomato pieces in with your canned chicken (which, BTW, also makes me ill).

I'd go to artificial sweetener free protein shakes and see what happens. You may need to do a 24 hour stint of plain broth to get your pouch back to a place of happy and then slowly add things over time.

The broccoli is liquefied in the blender and the chicken and tomato are put in the blender as well. It's a very mushy chicken salad consistency. Broth actually seems to be worse. I was soooo sick the first week till I started pureed. It's a little easier
