OT: Only minor revisions needed to my dissertation!
I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I was to get this news today! That means that all I have to do is make the minor revisions (most of them are just structural/organizational, rather than content related) and complete the defense (which I am not particularly stressed about -- just the normal anxiety that I think anyone would feel when faced with four faculty members asking questions about the research, conclusions, and clinical treatment "theory" that they have spent more than a year on.
After that, I will officially be Dr. Lora!
I will be SO glad to be done with this. It has been a long, stressful road. Of course, the student loans will live on until I am on Social Security (or whatever is left of SS)...

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Yay! Good job.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
Ironically (and somewhat sadly), her enthusiasm is limited. She was raised believing that you shouldn't talk about family problems outside the house and that -- basically -- needing a counselor in most cases (she {sarcasm on} graciously {sarcasm off} makes exceptions for things like rape, war trauma, unexpected loss of a spouse or child) is a mark of weakness. She won't SAY it that way, of course, but that is what she means. She is also very opposed to anti-depressant medications outside of short-term for the above mentioned traumas.
So, even when I got my Master's degree in Counseling, she wasn't very enthusiastic. Proud? I'm honestly not sure. Probably. She would never TELL me that, though. When I got accepted to grad school at Vanderbilt (with a full tuition waiver and a stipend for teaching intro Latin classes), she never said a word about it to me but apparently all of her closest friends knew exactly where I was going to school, so she must have been proud of it to mention it to them. Families... sometimes a big challenge. Sigh...
