Update on edema

I still have some swelling and stiffness in the knee, but no actual pain!  (The surgeon told me that the swelling and stiffness could last up to 6 months.)  FWIW, I personally would allow more than 7 weeks between knee replacements.  Even though I was back to all normal activities (driving, working, etc.) by 7 weeks out, there were still things that I was not yet able to do (like mow the lawn, walk comfortably up an incline) and still had some discomfort (although I guess if you are back on pain meds for the second knee, that wouldn't be an issue, LOL).

I will probably get my right knee done in the fall since I have already met my medical out of pocket maximum for the year and since I am hearing rumors of bad things on the health care front for next year.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

So glad you're home - as soon as I got home this afternoon this is the first thing I was looking for. I was hoping it was just some passing weird thing related to your recent stones. Hope you continue to feel better!

I'm really sorry that you're going through this after the kidney stone happenings. When it rains, it pours as the old saying goes. It sounds like they were on top of everything at your hospital and not just treating the symptoms. I'm glad you are back too!

Hi Lora,

I've been watching for you all day, and finally have a minute to post. I was really relieved to see your update, and to know that they ruled out the most serious of conditions. It's good to know they ran you through a vigorous round of testing and have some idea of whats going on. I hope things continue to improve.
