The missing piece of my resume....

and I certainly attached it too.... After having been informed less than a month ago that due to causes completely out of our control our department was being closed and we had first choice in applying for internal jobs within the organization as they had no intention of having anyone lose their job but to grandfather them into the main campus moving laterally or up the ladder as qualifications met.

I applied for 3 awesome jobs within the organization and having had awesome interviews at all three job opportunities I left each interview having being told that I was a very strong candidate and that I would be contacted at the time decision was made.  My second interview turned out to be for the job I would have died to have YESTERDAY ... everything I wanted for in a job and more than a job it is a role ... the job that would, like this one, totally fulfill me ... I interviewed at 2:00 pm ... by 4:00 pm I was being introduced to the other team players ... I came back to my department ... gathered my belongings and left for the day at 4:30 pm ... When I came to work the following morning I sent a thank you note to the manager who interviewed me for the job ... and to it I attached the missing piece of my resume ... because when we touched on my extracurricular activities I told her all about my morning runs and yes MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY!!! She asked if I had pictures and guess what? I had none on me and my cell was left at my desk.... so I took the opportunity of my thank you note for the awesome interview to attach "THE MISSING PIECE OF MY RESUME" it read like this... and to it I attached my before pictures and my NOW pictures of THAT DAY..

So when I write the missing piece of my resume ... as I did then and I am doing today in my blog and My Digital Empowerment Journal - A Picture A Day Keeps the Pounds and the Inches Away" my words will remain the same ... my BEFORE will remain the same because I cannot change it but my TODAY of which I am in full control will picture me TODAY as in my NOW....

I share with you the missing piece of my resume ...

LOSING ME…. In pounds that is ....

On June 5th, 2013, I celebrated 6 years and 4 months living life with my RNY Gastric Bypass Tool and my commitment to health and wellness  ... THANK YOU DR DUFFY AND YALE GI SURGERY FOR MAKING IT HAPPEN … For six years and four months now I no longer have 5 co-morbidities...... I am no longer mobility impaired ... I run 3-4 days a week sometimes every other day 5-6 miles along the beach and back, I have participated from start to finish in several 10K and 20Ks and I seek to participate in as many road races as I find available...I swim distance, I rock at Bokwa and Zumba (fitness/toning), Pilates and toning on Monday and Wednesday night and Bikram twice weekly are my go to de-stressors and fun fitness....

I have a clean bill of health ... over the midline of 50s and winking at 60s in a few years I am living my life like it is golden ... so many doors open every day ... I am entering them all ... with FAVOR ...

This is me ... BEFORE my life altering for the better quality and quantity of life  weight loss surgery....

and this is me TODAY ... as in THIS DAY.... rocking a 203 pounds total weight loss over 6 years and close to 5 months now and maintaining seamlessly...

This is me at work in our kitchen area ... warming up an awesome serving of steel oats slow cooked to perfection courtesy of my dearest husband...

I am loving me ... just like I did before .. but with the added bonus of health and mobility I am living my life like it is golden.  Commitment, dedication, perseverance and tons of love to self and others keeping my eyes on the mark of the why I had surgery in the first place ... I AM IN MY PERSONAL WAR AGAINST MORBID OBESITY AND I AM IN IT TO WIN!!!

This is my entry in my digital empowerment journal "A Picture A Day Keeps the Pounds and the Inches Away" a goofy tool that I made up with input from my awesome sister Dr. Maria Carmela aka Mela (RIP) .... it works for me ... I am tracking it all because I do not want to forget ...the feel of health and wellness after shedding the pounds....

There is Joy and there is Misery in equal measures in this world … I am embracing JOY and MAKING it happen to me … of course there is misery but I am NOT letting it in….

I am paying it forward … an advocate for health and wellness I am forever grateful….

Thanks for allowing me to share ... SNIPPETS OF MY JOURNEY.... The missing piece of my resume….

THE BEST NEWS YET:  I found a sticky note on my monitor with the same date as the date of my interview and the time 5:04 pm ... the note said I should call the employment office ... I did ... and WHOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!! Got my dream job ... got an AWESOME offer ... AND negotiated to start at closing date of my current department .... FAVOR!! FAVOR!! FAVOR!!!

I share with you the quote I got in my inbox this morning from the Purpose Fairy ....

When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everyone will respect you. ~Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

this is my confirmation ... I went in to interview as me ... I sold my experience, my skills, my education and ME ... just the way I am ... I got the job and would have been offered the other two also .... because at the end of the day I have ONLY ME ..to account for....

HAVE A GLORIOUS DAY!!! if we can just remember that whatever we are going through, it came and it too shall pass....

You are totally amazing and I couldn't be happier for you!!! The only thing that surprised me is seeing in your labels that you are a 2P. I thought from your photos over the years that you must be a good 5' 10". You LOOK tall and beautiful in every photo (before and after) that you have posted. So, you will be forever in my mine a tall lady (at least until I meet you at the convention!!)

Congratulations on getting your dream job!! There was a reason that you didn't receive the other jobs that you interveiwed for!!

I am exactly 5'5.5" a bit taller than you BEAUTIFUL, LOL .... A 5'5.5" tall I am the shortest person in my home DH 6', DD 6'2", DS 6'4" and I am the shortest in my family after my mom (RIP) passed away.  I used to be 5'.6.5" but lost an inch along the way.

Petite sizing is not only for those considered 'short' but it is also worn by those who like me have a short torso and narrow shoulders .... the pants had cuffs which I had to totally let down for the length LOL...

Thank you soooooooooooooooooo much for your kindness always and your well wishes ... MUAH!!! Can you imagine the stress we had been going through when after 15 years here in this department we were told this??? I wish that on no one... I am grateful for FAVOR!
