Diet Sodas

Something I occasionally do is buy the soda stream cola zero flavor and simply mix it with plain water. I do not use the carbonation machine at all. I just buy the mix for 5 bucks and it lasts quite a while.
What is it about DIET COKE? It's like liquid crack! I used to drink 4+ cans a day- but gave it up about a month before surgery (RnY 4/9/13). I am afraid to try it- that I will fall right back into drinking that much again...I know it's not good for your teeth, your joints, and darn it- it is NOT on the food pyramid! LOL!
I just don't want to tempt myself- I think one sip- and I would be right back there...I think I gave the Coke company enough of my hard- earned money. And you do realize- I am lecturing myself! (not you! : )
I loved soda before surgery but gave up all carbonated beverages about three months prior to surgery. I tried a few sips of diet Coke this week (I am almost four months post-op) and found it to be nasty. At least for now I will have no problem leaving sodas off my diet menu. My surgical program also stated that carbonated beverages would stretch the pouch but for the reasons stated by previous posters, I do not believe this to be so.
