So I just had my surgery yesterday morning and after I got home tonight, noticed this massive bruise not even near the insitions. It's like 3"x4 1/2". Has anyone else had this? Is it normal to have blood drain inside to a different area?

Did you have Lovinox shots? I was told if I had touched the area after they gave me the shot or rubbed it at all it would bruise drastically.

You know what I think you are right! They gave me a Coumadin shot before surgery and then a Louvinox today I believe right where that bruise is. I was half asleep and that's the side I usually sleep on so I bet you that was it. Thanks alot I feel so much better now!

Yikes . Thankfully I only got the Coumadin once and the other one once so I have a fee bruises but they aren't bad, just that one. My surgeon said I'm young with no health problems and was getting exersize regularly as soon as they got me to my hospital room so he didn't send me home with any blood thinners. Really glad I don't have to keep up with that too!

If you start vomiting blood or notice fresh blood in your stools call your surgeon. Or if you notice you're having more excessive bruising. You're well over 24 hours out of surgery now so chances of Lovenox causing bleeding internally are slim, but do watch out. I had one shot and ended up with excessive bleeding immediately post-op.

Happened to my husband and me. We both had heparin and bruised like late summer peaches for about a week afterwards!

I'm happy to know that's it and its not a complication or anything serious. I can deal with bruises for awhile. It's not like ill be wearing midriff tops or bikinis any time soon lol
