Hey everyone.  I know this has probably been asked before, but how long did it take you to get approved for surgery once your information was submitted?  I have Cigna, and would love to hear from anyone else with the same insurance and what their wait time was.  I'm hoping to have RNY at the Cleveland Clinic and I called today to let them know I'm done with all requirements from the medical team and to have them submit to insurance.  I HATE the waiting!!!!!!

Cigna gave me an answer over the phone in less than 5 days, I believe. Just remember to ooze with sweetness when you call and they will be very helpful :)

You went through the Cleveland Clinic too right?  I would just LOVE to hear as fast as possible.  Did the Cleveland Clinic respond to you when you called the number?  I am not sure if they are going to call back to say they submitted it or if I just assume they do?

they called me back to tell me that it was submitted to the insurance.  My insurance is actually Cleveland clinic insurance so I found out super quick.   If you don't hear anything within a week then call the Bariatric number and talk to a representative.  They will tell you what is going on.

As soon as Cigna received my info they assigned me a nurse case manager to go over everything. This wasn't for approval purposes but for medical reasons. It was very helpful to have her involved. She continued to followup for a few weeks after surgery.  Cigna approved the surgery the next day and I had surgery within two days. One reason they may have given an answer so quickly was that my doctor had submitted my preapproval request with a date that was within a week.

It should be quickly. Keep on top of them if not. Goody luck with your surgery!!!
