OT: some good things (to offset my continuing kidney stone pain)
First, it looks like I will be able to submit the draft of my dissertation to my Chair by next week. I will be SO glad to have it done. i am really ready to have that PhD after my name. It has been a long road, and I had originally hoped to have it done before I turned 50 last August, but if she doesn't have any major concerns with it, I should be able to finish before my 51st birthday this year!
Second, I have been searching -- without success -- for several years for an acceptable replacement for my 1999 Honda Prelude. I love that car, but when it hit 100K miles a few years ago, I started looking. All the cars that were acceptable in terms of looks and performance (and NOT requiring premium gas) were $40K+, and no way can I afford that! So in 2009, I kept the Prelude and bought a Civic EXL (which has a pathetic 140HP engine) for everyday and winter driving. Well, Honda redesigned their Accord Coupe and the 278 HP V6 version is just as much fun to drive as my Prelude. So... I put a deposit on one as an early celebration of the item above and a delayed 50th birthday present to myself)!
I wanted a red one, but they are very scarce, so I will have to settle for black (again... my Prelude is black). I included a picture of a red one below. (How ironic that all the stock photos are of a red one yet it is practically impossible to get one in red.) The deal is contingent on them offering me a decent trade-in on my Civic, but as long as they do that I should have the new car sometime next week. I am very excited! I am going to sell the Prelude on my own because they offered me significantly less than the KBB trade in amount even though I have taken excellent care of it.
So... anyone in SW Ohio who knows someone who wants a good deal on a great sporty car (200 HP), let me know

What a great accomplishment! And congrats on the new car - I think I would like it better in black anyway :)

Cute car! I love the red I have never owned a red car before but this one really strikes me as sporty. Although black is probably sharp also. I wonder what your car color choice says about you, my car is bright yellow. I kind of picked it spur of the moment, it was a very expensive impulse buy.
Congrats!
When I bought my Fiat last year I considered red but would have had to wait awhile since no one in state had one. So I opted for metallic black. And the metallic black has a hilarious name; they call it Nero.

I have been wanting to ask about your dissertation but haven't wanted to cause any anxiety if you were not on track. So glad to hear you are almost finished. I certainly hope they get this kidney stone situation under control soon. God Bless!

Love the car!! My twin had a red honda prelude that she adored!! She still talks about that car and was giving my salesman the 3rd degree on that color and how Honda doesn't use it in enough of their vehicles. She said she'd own a Pilot if she could get it in that Red.
Congrat's on the PH.D, how exciting!!!
Hang in there!
