Vitamin D?
I went to my reg MD yesterday for a checkup for the year and he had me do labs before I went... Well everything looked good except for my Vit D. Will the multi Vitamins I am taking now take care of that or do I need to add Vitamin D . I am taking BA Complete Multi Vitamin. I couldn't handle the chewable calcium Citrate so I went to Vitamin Shoppe and got the liquid will try that and see that goes down. Then I take the vit b-12 twice a week..
You need a Dry vitamin D. and for the calcium I buy mine at CVS, its the cvs brand calcium citrate + d with magnesium. Just make sure your taking 500 mgs at a time, and 3 doses atleast 2 hours apart. For the b12, I would take that every day or every other, depending on the dose. B12 can drop really quick.
I've never known any post ops that got enough D3 just from their multi. And if you've been taking your multi, then apparently that's not enough D3 for you, either.
Most post ops need at least 10,000 IU D3 daily. I've know three that were OK on just 5,000 IU. None that were OK on less than that.
How much you need depends on your level. What was it? We need it to be at least 80 (says the Linus Pauling Institute). To keep mine around 100, I have to take 50,000 IU D3 three times a week.

With your level that low, I would order the 50,000 IU D3 capsules from vitalady.com. When my level was down to 25, I took 50,000 IU once a day for about a month, then cut back to three times a week. The ASMBS stated, in their 2013 updated guidelines, that some patients will require up to 50,000 IU D3 daily for a time.
Keep in mind that doctors often freak out if you tell them you are taking such a big dose that often. However, since the Linus Pauling Institute, the Vitamin D Council, and now the ASMBS all say it's OK to do so, at least for most people, I personally think it's OK to take that much. If you do, though, I would get labs done again in four to six weeks so you can know if it's time to cut back some.

That script is almost useless since it's D2, not D3, and in oil and we malabsorb fats. Also, 50,000 IU, even of dry D3, is not likely to be enough to get your level up to 80. When my level was 25, I took 50,000 IU dry D3 daily for a month, then cut back to three times a week, which is what I now take to keep my level around 100.
