Is this normal post surgery?

I had my surgery which was a revision from lap band to RNY on 5/8/13.  The first two weeks were ok I guess, I did get easily nauseous even if I just sipped on water sometimes but that stopped.  As of yesterday I've had gas so bad that the upper part of my stomach starts cramping and I have to constantly walk around in order to move the gas.  I'm taking chewable gas pills, but even liquids cramp me up.  I might as well forget trying to eat soft food right now, because if the liquids cramp me then I'm sure food is going to hurt.  I expected the gas right after surgery, but not at this point in my recovery.  Is this normal?

Early on I had to walk walk walk to get the gas out, but u are almost 4 weeks, as I had mine onMay 7th. I went from liquids to purée. In your case I would call my surgeon, that is who will know. Don't guess, let your Dr. Tell u, still on liquids, are your stools fine, if not it could be constipation, if no stools, call your Dr. This is a good reason to call.

Hope u feel better soon.

I am supposed to be on soft/pureed food and I was doing fine with it until yesterday when I began to experience the cramping and gas pains.  I think you're right I should call my doc tomorrow to find out if this is normal.  If it is, I can ride it out for a while until it hopefully goes away.  It's just awful especially when I have to drink to stay hydrated and the side effect from drinking is pain.  I don't necessarily have to eat anything right now especially when I don't even get hungry.

Just wanted to thank everyone for your encouragement to call my doctor.  He ended up admitting me into the hospital because I was apparently severely dehydrated and my potassium level was very low.  I had to stay overnight while I got IV's full of fluid and potassium.  I was finally discharged back home today and told I need to keep track of my fluid intake.  I thought having water or Crystal light near my side and sipping all day was keeping my hydrated, but I wasn't keeping track of the "amount" of fluid I was taking in.  Not nearly enough apparently.
