I need some HELP!!
Even though smoking is a chemical dependency, the habits that surround it are the hardest to break. The chemicals you depend on leave the body rather quickly....it is the lifestyle that is sooo difficult to change. But guess what??? Everyone that has been successful with WLS had to break some bad habits.........and it is hard. But you CAN DO HARD THINGS.
90% of any permanent change is the WILL to do it. If you think you can do it, you can. If you think you can't, well, you can't. Tell your self that YOU CAN DO THIS.
I am proud of you for tackling this habit, and in the end you'll be so proud of yourself for this important step!
good for you that you are making an effort to quit smoking.
i quit some 25 yrs ago i was a 3 pack smoker a day it was terrible i lost my mom at 42 from lung cancer . she left behind 6 kids youngest one 8 yrs old .
what i did was i wrote a pros and cons list why i smoked and why i wanted to quit
then the next 3 days i smoked till i coudlnt smoke anymore night before 4th day i collected 19 ashtrays in my house got rid of all cigarettes and that was that . 4th day i stopped and never ever put another cigarettes to my lips again.
now my husband quit by buying the electronic cigarette that worked for him
good luck to you

Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement. I saw my PCP today and asked her about the Chantix pill. Since I suffer from depression and anxiety and with the meds I take she didnt recommend it. She told me it also causes bad dreams and insomnia which I also take meds to help me sleep. Im going to ask my psychiatrist about it to see what he says. I may have to do this cold turkey. And yes the thought of not being able to have surgery unless I quit is definitely playing on my mind. I want this surgery so bad. Ill keep you all posted on my progress. On a lighter note, Ive lost a total of 38 lbs. since the beginning of April. 50 more to go for surgery. Had my EKG today with good results. Psych. eval. on Friday. Thank you all again.
