Surgery was yesterday.
good to hear you are doing well. Yeah, the stuff they have you drink to check for leaks is yucky tasting-but serves it's purpose.
Remember to sip, sip sip and walk, walk, walk, walk. I also found heating pads to help with any gas pains as well.
You will do fine. follow your Team's instructions.
I work in the hospital that I had mine in and was on the floor that is right next to the Unit that I work on-so when I went for my walks I used to take my IV pole and go for a walk to visit my Teammates when they weren't over visiting me. I loved it when I was allowed to shower. Felt great!
Before I went for surgery I had stocked up on Powerade Zero as it is full of electrolytes and I couldn't have anything with sugar in it. It helped me alot when I got home to get those electrolytes in-kept me hydrated. I drank water as well, but it was the electrolytes that helped me from getting dehydrated.

How are you doing today? Hope you are feeling well. My worst days were 4 and 5 days post-op and otherwise, smooth sailing! Keeping you in my prayers and sending positive thoughts!

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way. Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
Congratulations and welcome to the losing side! :) Glad it sounds like things went well, generally speaking. My "favorite" part about the leak check test was when they pointed me to a flat slab of a table and indicated that they wanted me to lie down on it. I looked at them like, you're kidding, right? I'd barely gotten out of bed at that point, let alone trying to lie down on something horizontal from scratch! I joked after that on day 2 they made me do gymnastics. Sure felt like it! Anyhow, glad to hear things went well. Hope you make it home soon!
