plantar fasciitis (Bone Spurs) in my heels.
i got a job about a week ago that requires me to stand ALL the time and walk. which is no problem thats fine. im getting exercise into my work day. but i thought the pain in my heals were because of my weight. but it hurt beyond just the regular ole' uncomfortable. it was stabbing throbbing certain part of my heel pain. so i call my mom to talk to her about it and she says they run in our family. so i went to the doctor and found out yes. i have them. lovely. (there is a point just hang on haha) so now i know its not alll because of my weight but i know that it contributes.
okay so the question. had any of you have bone spurs (plantar fasciitis) and did it get better as the weight came off? how did you deal with it?
Hi Shawna, I don't have heel spurs, but my hubby does and he has had rny as well. His unfortunately have not gotten better with the weight loss. He had surgery to have them removed and still has issues. From what he says, what helps him the most is orthotic inserts that his podiatrist gave him. Hope this helps.

I had cortisone shots in my feet 22 years ago and have not had pain since. I also make sure I only wear good footwear. Orthaheel shoes on QVC are good, Clarks shoes, etc.
I had bad heel spurs both feet before I lost the weight. I had surgery on my left heel then I had gastric bypass about a year later. My right foot has been completely pain free since the weight came off and I sometimes have a little cramping in the left. I had custom orthotics but they didn't fit anymore after I lost the weight so I used some that I put in the oven to mold to my foot for a year or so. Now I just wear good running shoes at work. I'm on my feet for the whole shift at work too. You can send me a message if you have any question.

Shawna,
My feet used to KILL me pre-op. It felt like a nail was being driven in my heels even when wearing expensive good shoes. The only way I was finally able to make it though the day was by switching to Crocs Rx with soft inserts. Now a days....my feet are wayyyyy better and I can even wear cute shoes!

thank you for your reply, i just bought some "new balance" they seemed to work better than the doctor scholes i had bought. i bought a lot of inserts these last couple weeks and the new balance seemed to help. i just hope my feet stop killing me. :/ i am taking NSAID's to help. and i know thats a big no no after RNY, so i am trying to resolve it before then and get to a better balance. unfortunetly i can not wear crocs at work. i have to have a closed shoes all times.
I had problems with my heel bothering me after standing and walking on the job and being barely able to put shoes on with a back on them. when I wore a backless shoe, it was okay. Had it x-rayed, and it was a heel spur. I have to see an orthopedic surgeon to have it removed. Well, spoke to someone else who has had it done, and they said I would have to take time off of work, and I do not want to do that at this time, since I will be doing that in July or so for this surgery, so I am going to try and wait it out. It has not bothered me as much as it used to since I have lost some weight, but, then again, everyone is different. I hope you find what will work for your situation, cause I know how it feels! Best wishes!
