Ridges/Indentations in fingernails
I cannot remember if I read something on here or some other place that the ridges on fingernails is a sign of vitamin deficiency. I had my labs done at three months and they were good and I am just short of 5 months now. My thumbs both have bad ridges and some of my other nails are starting to show small ones. I take all my supplements and a biotin to help with the hair re-growth. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
If they are vertical ridges, they can simply be due to aging (nothing you can do about that!) or to lack of enough water, fat, or protein in your diet (and resolving those will eliminate them). Sometimes they can also happen just because of stress on your body from surgery.
As far as I know (but I am certainly no expert), only the horizontal ridges indicate vitamin deficiencies or illness.
