Goal Weight?
I picked the middle of the normal bmi for my height, I am 5'5 and I weigh 137, size 6, I am medium sized, not petite at all, I tower over most womyn when I am in my normal heels.
Wait until you get there and see where you feel most comfortable. I did lose more (under 130, not sure of the actual number) but I looked older and as much as wearing size 2 thrilled me look haggard was not why I had wls. Possibly because it was a lose due to a breakup with my boyfriend that I looked like such a mess. Once we got back together I got back to my normal weight and I felt and looked much better. Age really makes a huge difference in this, I will be 49 this year.
Good Luck!
I was 51 when I had surgery and also have 5 kids, am 5' 4" but not heavy chested. I thought that I was big boned as I have huge hands (mans gloves only for me) and a size 10 shoe. I made my goal 140 because that was at least in the 'normal' BMI range. I flew right by that and now weigh 114 and wear a size 2. I always thought that my bones were bigger than that!!
I have always thought of a goal weight as a flexible number. Take it as it comes and adjust what you think is right for you when you get closer.

This is something I always struggle with as well. I'm 5'7", and although I'm 340lbs and anything BUT "small" framed right now, I know that I actually am, underneath it all. When I was 245lbs, my neck was half an inch bigger around than my mother's, who was about 105lbs at the time. ;)
I have 140lbs in my head as my "perfect" weight, but the truth of the matter is, I've never even been 'average', let alone at the 'right' weight for my frame, so I have absolutely zero idea what my "perfect" weight is. I think it'll be a mixture of what the surgeon feels is right, and where I feel the best.
Of course, I'm willing to hear suggestions. ;)

I went with what would give me a technically "normal" BMI. Now that I understand more about physical fitness, I realize that the BMI calculation is flawed and only really meant for evaluating a large sample size of people.
I'd never been a "normal" weight so I had no concept of what else to use as a guide.
But as it turned out, it was a good target for me. Right now, I'm focused on continuing to lose fat and work on strengthening my muscles. I'm at a healthy weight, and now my goal is to lower my body fat percentage to decrease the risk of cardiovascular problems later in life.

I am also 5' 4", not big boned and not heavy chested (not any more :( lost most of the chest with the weight)
My dr set a goal of 162. I set my goal to be at a normal BMI. So it is at 146 which would be a BMI of 24.9 lol
When I get there I will see if the loss stops or not. I am only 4 lbs away and in a size 10 and a few 8s. I never thought I would get this small and I am still losing.

My normal BMI - I'm 5'5" - is 140 but I'm shooting for 150. I've been heavy my entire life and didn't want to shoot for the stars, but for a more "realistic" #. From all that I've read on this site, my weight loss will stop when my body is happy. I'm happy at the 174 I'm at now, but would be thrilled for the weight to keep dropping off :)
