Abdominal pain again
About 2 months ago I went to the ER with severe abdominal pain. They did a cat scan and x ray which showed nothing. I went home and it was gone the next day. Last night I experienced the same thing again. It came on suddenly. The pain was all over and came in waves. It was some of the worst pain I have ever experienced. Called Doc and went back to the ER. They did a x ray which didn't show anything. He gave me some meds through and IV and loratab to take home. They took the edge off the pain, but it still hurt and made it difficult to sleep. The whole episode lasted about 15 hours. This morning I am fine. I have a follow up appointment with my Dr. on Thursday. Any ideas?
FYI: I am 2 years out with no complications.
Just a thought, track what you are eating and drinking.....maybe that will help narrow down what could be the cause of it...I've noticed some pain after coffee...and dear lord I don't want to give it up but if it keeps happening I will. Sometimes I have it after red meat but really have noticed it when I have GAS or haven't been to the bathroom in a day or so....which with this surgery, seems like the gas is alot more!! LOL sorry but true.
Just my two cents.

There are literally DOZENS of things that it could be, and many of them wouldn't show up on an X-ray. CTs and ultrasounds will show much more (although sometimes even those won't show things (like adhesions). Anything we could suggest would just be a pure guess based only on one primary symptom!

I had two bowel obstructions that had to be surgically repaired. Both of them felt like labor pains and the pain came in waves. Neither of them showed up on a CT scan or x-ray. They had to do exploratory surgery to find them. My small intestines had wrapped around adhesions, causing a blockage. Don't wait it out. The first bowel obstruction I had... I "dealt" with the pain for 2 weeks. By the time they decided to do surgery, 12 inches of my bowel had died. It was a life threatening situation. The second time...I recognized the symptoms and went right in. That time they could untwist the bowel and I was good to go!
