OT about my biopsy
I wrote about it on my blog and I don't have enough energy to rewrite it all here, so here's a link if you'd like to read it: http://storyofmyservicedog.blogspot.com/2013/05/had-biopsy-t oday.html

Geez Kelly, that nurse not only needed IV inserting skill development, she REALLY needs some bedside manner skills and to learn to read patient charts!! I'm sorry that you went through all of that. I have only ever had one or two bad nurses in my life but many, many who were compassionate and skilled.
A lemon does sound big (at least to me who doesn't have a lemons worth of breast tissue) but maybe it won't seem like so much after the bandages come off. I'm glad that is behind you now and wish you the best!!

I've had some wonderful, wonderful nurses, too. And the radiologist was wonderful.

Yeah, someone should smack that nurse upside the head. Ridiculous! I am glad you persevered and had your friend in the room with you. A complaint to the hospital Patient Relations office is definitely in order.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I'm so impressed that you pushed through all that, including that moronic nurse and your real anxiety issues, to take care of your health. Hopefully the tissue they removed will not be cancerous and you can heal and put this miserable chapter behind you. I am astounded that you had such a difficult nurse, most of my experiences have been with great nurses, but there is always a difficult one in the bunch. Feel better and take care of yourself.
Gosh, what a day you've had. So sorry that you had to deal with such insensitive people.
I've been an LPN for nearly 30 years, and have worked with numerous medical people of all levels who are wonderful...and a few who are complete jerks. Also, in those years, I have found that the titles mean very little. An RN degree doesn't guarantee quality care, nor does an MD.
I nearly spit my drink on the monitor screen as I read your question to the nurse about the surgeon calling her directly! LOL
I will send good vibes your way for good results from the biopsy.

Apparently she really thought the surgeon should have called her directly. She said she'd been a nurse for 30 years - you're a nurse, you realize how ridiculous that is. But the info was in my chart AND I was able to provide her with any info she needed AND my friend was also able to help give her info - if she had wanted any. But she didn't really want info, she wasn't listening to anything we said.
I was very impressed that the surgeon's staff had made a point of informing hospital staff, even if only in my chart, about my PTSD and anxiety. I felt he and his staff were taking it very seriously and making every effort to meet my needs. Apparently the nurse was not satisfied with his efforts, though.
