BMI

My BMI is 34. I am hoping on having revision surgery from the band. Has anyone had surgery approved with this BMI? I have high blood pressure and back problems. I did have sleep apnea but that went away when I lost 60 pounds with the band. I also have a small hernia they will fix if I get approved.
So, what do you think?

Your insurance document should tell you the requirements for revision.

I had a revision and it was required that you meet the criteria for the original surgery.  So I had to have a BMI over 40 - or over 35 with comorbidities.  With my policy you would not qualify.

Some policies will allow for band removal without revision if you are having issues with the band, like erosion.

Never hurts to ask.

Good luck!!

My insurance is also a BMI over 40 - or over 35 with comorbidities.  Look at your individual policy or call.  Your surgeon may know the answer if he deals with your insurance a lot.
