Met my out of pocket insurance max, so what routine things should I get done this year?
Definitely colonoscopy - unfortunately I have to repeat them every 3 years - my first one I was wide awake and watched on the monitor - the second one I was totally out and don't remember a thing.
Bone density good idea. Mammogram good idea. Skin check great idea.
Will they pay for a podiatrist visit? I like getting my feet checked out each year - nails trimmed, corns taken care of, etc. I have horrible feet.
Can't remember but if you still have your ovaries a check of those would probably be good, too. I get mine checked each year.
I have met my out of pocket, too, about as much as you = I may go for some GI studies (already had endoscopy) since I am still having bloating problems after my hernia repair.
Good luck!

A pap smear is checking for cervical cancer. If you don't have a uterus, you don't have a cervix. The cervix is the opening of the uterus. So what would they be checking for?

Lora,
Don't put off the colonoscopy! I did - waited until I was 60, and unfortunately had developed quite a lot of polyps, as well as one which was called a flat adenoma, which was under the actually lining of the colon. It couldn't be removed during the colonoscopy so I had to have a bowel resection. I'm very fortunate that it wasn't any worse than that - it was benign and the surgery was done laproscopically, but it was a pretty painful surgery all together.
The prep for the colonoscopy is the worst part, and it's really not that bad. - for the procedure they give you really good drugs so it's a breeze.
I would definitely put that on my list to get done this year, you just never know.
