still fat
Wow!! Now That's A kick in the Butt !!!!!!!!!!!! I think I have found a new best friend. There is a lot to the "in your face method". Now, I have to do it. Rise to the challenge, the thing is...I have my big girl panties on...Its time to take them off and vision the bikini panties! Thank you Kim. Definately gonna face that scale head on!
If you set yourself up in a way that allows some flexibility, you will never have to "get back on track".
This is the key to maintaining weight loss long term. I was a "by the book" girl for the first 13 months, and then I reached goal (I use the term loosely because I never set my sights on a number, but I stopped losing at 13 months). At that point I had to decide what maintenance looked like. I was already a regular exerciser by that point, so I had that on my side. I decided to allow myself a bit of the things I wanted, and the rest of the time to follow my plan. I was also already eating 6-7 small meals per day because of RH. Now I live by the 80/20 rule.
Now, if I want dessert, I eat it. If I want dessert, cookies, candy......whatever, for days at a time, I eat it. BUT I also run a few extra miles, or I cut back on something else. I only weigh once a month now....and if that scale is up 3 or more lbs, for the next month I'm much more aware of what I'm doing and I track my food for a few weeks on myfitnesspal. Bottom line, I do not "play dumb" with my weight........I can feel 2 or 3 extra pounds because my clothes are very fitted and do not allow for extras! I remain mindful but NEVER deprive myself nor label certain foods as "evil" or "off limits". Once I looked at all food as just food, many of those "goodies" lost their appeal.
I really do think a very large part of my success is the regular exercising and the amount of muscle I've built. My metabolism really improved once I did that, and my body is much more forgiving. I know I have to workout 5-6 days a week because this girl likes to eat, and I have no plans on "dieting" or giving up good food anytime soon!
Read Kim's response and read it again. You CAN do this, denial is not your friend. Get yourself back on track starting today, you've got the tool so use it to your advantage. The weight loss will not be quick like it was initially but it's very doable.
Be accountable to yourself and find the extra support you need to start over gain. YOU CAN, it's mind over matter. You have to BELIEVE it's possible and ALL things are when you 1) believe and 2) are willing to work hard.

If you can't comply with the rules with the original RNY how do you think you'll do it with a revision? A revision is only for those that have medical issues with their surgery. If you're not compliant it won't do you any good. If you have food issues do you see a therapist? Are you on medications? If you've tried every other avenue - and do try everything else first - then therapy and medication may be the way to go. We all can't do this on our own. Some need a little more help. Set a date and decide that you're going to follow the rules exactly and see what happens. If you can do that, you'll see the weight come off again and you'll feel better. What we were given was a tool - something to help US lose the weight - it's all up to us. Protein forward or only meals, lots of exercise, lots of water and changing our lifestyle are the only things that work. Quit grazing and quit doing foods that aren't going to do you any good. In 5 yrs you should have been able to change your eating habits and lose the weight you want. It's not too late - the pouch works forever. Get back to basics - go back to liquids if you need to for a few days, then progress to soft, pureed, and regular foods. Do protein drinks for a meal or two if you need to. Once you start losing again it's usually the motivation we need to go forward. Set weekly or bi-weekly goals for water intake, exercise and weight loss. Use the tool you were given and remember why you had surgery in the first place. Support groups are also a good way to stay connected and on track. Good luck - keep us posted.

That is why I am posting...I do need help and I have admitted to my non compliance. I have a lot of issues that is why I am where I am. I OWN THAT! I haven't tried much of anything. My life has been turned upside down every since my surgery and I have copped out. That's why I am here. All of you that have done it right I applaud you. Admitting to this is not easy and I know what I must do. Thankful that I am still here to talk about it and try again. Was hoping to find someone in the same boat that could share with me their feelings and how they got back on track. However, hearing the encouragement and even the tough stuff has been good for me. Feeling a bit beat up at this very moment.
Understand that you have friends here and are going through the same trials as everyone else. Just because answers seem to be so easy to lay out for you doesn't mean that it hasn't been difficult for us. We are all a work in progress.
Try thinking and telling yourself that you are heading for success. Dress for success when you start out in the morning. Get involved in activities where you can show your positive side and make notes to yourself for what you want to accomplish each day. Do it at night so you go to sleep thinking about a good tomorrow. Get a good nights rest. Write out your plan for menus and have your food ready. Don't let yourself run out of the right proteins and snacks. Think ahead. Turn on your favorite music and start dancing. Laugh a lot. Put sticky notes around that say "I CAN".
If you put up your health tracker we can all watch your progress. Cheers!
