OT: Gus at 4 months
Gus is 16 weeks old today. He had his last set of puppy shots earlier this week and weighed in at 33 pounds! (That means he gained more than 2 pounds a week since his last set of shots! Mr Piggy, indeed!) Sometimes he still looks very much like a puppy (pic #1) and other times I can really see his "big boy" face coming through (pic #3). I love that he has the requisite Chow blue/black tongue but that his mouth and gums are pink (pics #1 and #2). (Usually the inside of the mouth is dark as well). You can see in the first picture that his nose is lightening up, though. Will have to wait to see how light it eventually gets. I am hoping it stays as it is now!

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Oh Lora, I envy you having Gus. He is such a beautiful dog and I cannot believe how thick that coat is. I know he is a Chow, but have never seen one in the puppie stage. Does he jump up and sleep with you at night? I know he has his own bed but boy, talk about a cuddle bug! Hope your knee is doing ok after twisting it. You can't post enough pictures of Gus. Thanks for always sharing and keeping us updated. Jane
When he was little, I would bring him up on the bed for an hour or so of extra sleep when he was getting me up at 3 or 4am to go potty, but i only did that for a few weeks. My Scotties always slept with me, but Chows are too big and they also prefer to sleep in a guarding spot such as at the top of the stairs just outside the bedroom door. Now that he sleeps through the night and can "hold it" until a reasonable hour, he no longer sleeps in the crate, but I have the bedroom door closed since he is not quite trustworthy enough to have complete run of the house at night.
My knee is still a bit stiffer and more painful today, but is much better than yesterday and when I had my PT yesterday, I was still able to get good response from it as far as bending and (movement was just slower and took more effort), so it is fine. The therapist suggested additional icing of the joint for a couple of days and some heat on the outside of the leg in the knee area.
