Are you sure you want to do this?

Hahahahaha - You'd be surprised the reactions people have after surgery.  I mean you're the same you...everything looks the same...and doubt creeps in.  Trust me it happens even after surgery - but each day that passes it gets easier.

Some days even now I struggle.  Specially out at restaurants with friends or my BF.  I eat sooooooooo slow but when I'm with other people I just stop eating cause the reality is they are done like 30 min before I ever will be.  Lucky for me my dad had the Lapband a few years ago and so he eats slow too.  So, for family stuff I have a slow eater buddy. haha  The other thing that's annoying is not being able to drink after food. Man that is obnoxious! Start now! hahaha

In all seriousness though I wish you the BEST of luck!

My wife was supportive all along but became very quiet in the two or three days leading up to surgery.  I think she was as emotional as I was and just stayed quiet until after to cope with her feelings.  She has been awesome since the surgery and like other posters have said, we both wonder why I did not do this earlier.  My surgery weight was where you started so I can tell you it can turn out alright as my roommate at 425 and me at 433 were up and walking within a few hours of having surgery!  Best of luck and we will see you on the bench.

My only comment will be that I am so sorry that she waited until 48 hrs before your surgery to say that to you !!  My husband was on board once I sat down with him a year before the surgery and told him what I wanted to do. He never looked back and trusted that I was committed to this. I cannot imagine how this must have shaken you to your core...... my advice is to go with your gut , if this is what YOU need to do, then DO it..... hopefully she will get on board when she sees how strong and committed you are being.  She could also just be scared, alot of people have posted how their spouses were a little threatened by the thought of them not being the overweight one anymore.... could that be it?   Anyway, GOOD LUCK on your surgery day, it is totally worth it!!

I'm sure she has a lot of mixed emotions.,,,including fear....and you do too. You need her to be strong and confident because it makes it easier for you...but remember that it is a lot for her to deal with as well. She's feeling insecure. Give her some time. It's scary. Everything will go great. I have a husband and two young children and it was an adjustment for all of us, but at 3 months out - we are all better off for it. Good luck!
