Vitamin...Life Extension any reviews???
So today I had my 6 month post op. My doctor is now recommending a new multi vitamin. It is called Life Extension two per day tablets. http://www.lef.org/Vitamins-Supplements/Item01715/Two-Per-Da y-Tablets.html Just looking for feed back, He said that taking a normal "person" multi vitamin doesnt work, even with me taking 2 doses a day. Also with this multi I wouldn't need any extra B12, he is staying only thing extra to take is calcium.

What does he base the statement that taking a "normal person" multi doesn't work on? The ASMBS says it does.
I see that taking two of these vitamins only gives you half the vitamin A the ASMBS says we need, and 90% of that is beta carotene, which we can't absorb. So you'd only be getting 5% of the vitamin A you need. I think that means you would need to take extra vitamin A.
I don't see any iron or copper in this, either, unless I missed those somehow. So you'd need to take extra of those.
Is your doc by any chance selling these vitamins?

Oh, and it has no vitamin K.

Yes they have a store on the first floor of the building they are in. They even make you do a certain meal replacement for their pre-op diet. Right now I am taking 2 doses of Nature made Multi, Sundown perfect iron, b12, vitamin C, omega 3, and all my calcium. Only thing that has showed up low on blood work is my Iron, but I have been anemic for years.
I always get a bit skeptical when docs sell vitamins. I'd be very curious about why he thinks you would not need iron with this new brand he's recommending even though your labs show your iron is low. I'd also be curious about why he thinks a "regular person" multi won't work for you when that's what you've been taking and your labs show it is working so far.

I have no clue. I got home from my appointment and looked them up and see what all they are. I was thinking they were made for Bariatric but they arent. Its 20.00 for 2 months, but for me I have been taking all my same pills since right after surgery and my labs are great, other then iron. Last week I switched to the perfect iron, So i will get that retested in a month.
That is very good line of vitamins but rather pricey. And you would need to take 4 per day. As long as you can afford that month after month after month for years - you are OK as long as you additionally take: B12 - in proper form (most of us don't absorb the pills), Vit A, Vit D, calcium, magnesium, Vit K1 and K2., and iron. Most of us also take extra biotin for hair..
most likely - the additional vits I listed - will start running low on you after a few months or years.
