Why don't doctors listen to us?? UPDATED
The good news is that the pain is lessening, and I am not desperate for pain meds before the 4 hours between doses is up. I still need it every 4 hours, but was able to delay it 45 min this morning to move the meds closer to my PT session. So the pain is less severe. Long way to go, but met all post-op PT goals... And they will be sending a home health care PT 2-3 times per week for 2 weeks.
UPDATE: The doctor has decided that one unit of blood should be enough, so I will be getting out after dinner

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Argh! I hate when they don't listen. Seems like it might have made more sense to keep you on the iron and give you some Mirilax to prevent the constipation. But honestly, I'd prefer to get constipated and then need a suppository than to have my hemoglobin that low and need two units of blood.
I'm glad your pain is getting better, though.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
Super frustrating! We do know our bodies! At least the pain is better! Hang in there!
I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!

Really... that stinks! Amazing how different surgeons are from hospital to hospital. I took my iron right up to the day before surgery because she didn't want to mess with the blood values. She wasn't concerned with the constipation issue as long as I was aware of it and taking the meds she prescribed for it. As it was, my RBC dropped after surgery despite the Iron supplement.
Glad the pain is moderating. You'll be home to baby Gus tomorrow and be better everyday.
Buried under 2 feet of snow today (snow and freezing rain last night) and still going so who knows...maybe 3ft! Stuck in the house....went out to test the footing and promptly started to slip...all ice underneath. I won't risk my knee just to clean off the car. Wish i knew a high school boy looking to earn a little cash!
Thinking of you!

My mom said Gus grew longer legs one night and grew wrinkled looking fur on his forehead one night, so I can't wait to see him!
