Protein bars
I use protein bars as "emergency" food. I am always traveling so I throw a few in my bag to have "just in case" I usually have Zone bars or Quest Bars.
I really like the Atkins frozen meals. I have tried most of them and like all but the ones with egg. I have an aversion to microwaved eggs. They have a tone of sodium so I only use them if I am traveling.
I only use protein bars as "emergency" food because every one that I ever tried had a nasty texture and even the Quest bars (which are the ones i currently have in my car, desk and purse to avoid hypoglycemic attacks if I cannot eat on schedule) just taste "ok" to me. The only ones that actually taste good to me are basically candy bars with some protein added.
I would encourage you to look at the ingredients in protein bars. Most of them contain LOTS of chemicals. Personally, I wanted to eliminate as many processed food as was practical from my diet after surgery. There are much ehaltheir ways to get protein in, but that's just my opinion.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I like the Balance Bars -- mint chocolate crunch is really good. It has a bit more sugar than the super low carb ones, but I rarely eat the whole thing and I don't dump on them.
Like the others, protein bars are for emergencies for me. I keep one in my desk at work in case I forget so pack enough to get through my day. And I keep one in my purse in case I'm running around and need to eat.
I finally found a great tasting bar: Nature Valley, Salted Carmel Nut. The have a peanut butter and chocolate one too, but I wont try it bc its dark choc...Anyway, its 10g Protein and 14g Carbs. Its 190 calories, but it actually tastes GREAT, not all cardboardy like everything else! It actually reminds me of a Payday bar, except this has almonds as well as peanuts.
Good Luck!
