So disappointed...
Found out today that my surgery scheduled for next Tuesday, 2/19 isn't gonna happen. The doc got my results from my upper GI and I have something called intestional malrotation. Basically my intestines didn't form correctly in the womb and they've been like that my whole life. Explains all my crazy, what had been previously misdiagnosed as IBS, symptoms I guess. Apparently it is very rare in adults and I can't have bypass surgery until my intestines are repaired. So, he gave me the name of a specialist to call. I've left a message with their office but I'm so disappointed. I was 10 days into my liquid pre-op diet and SO ready for my surgery. Anyone else have this issue or even ever heard of it?
I understand the dissappointment, but better to catch this now and avoid all the complications.

I'm sorry for your disappointment. Try to stay encouraged, it sounds as though you can still have the procedure - just not as soon as you had hoped.
This discovery may be a blessing, in disguise.
I'm in the thick of my full liquid gig, sometime I think that I can't take another protein drink - but I do.
Best Wishes to you!!!
Awwwww, I feel so sad for your dream being delayed. Perhaps you can ask the new doctor if he can/will work with your Bariatric surgeon to perform both procedures at once if needed. Try to hang in there, and remember we're still here for you if you want to post a rant, rave, or just pour your heart out to the only group of people *****ally understand your frustration and disappointment.

I've never heard of this, but I found out at my cardiac clearance that I could have heart surgery I'd been denied before, and the cardiologist wanted to go first. It ended up delaying my RnY by almost a year. But I did eventually get the RnY, now I'm at goal, and soon you will be too. Hang in there.

Keep on swimming! Keep on swimming!
Thanks everyone! I know you are all right that it is good they found it before my surgery. I have an appointment with the intestinal specialist this coming Wednesday to learn more about the issue. Hopefully it will be a quick, somewhat easy fix and I can hurdle past this bump in the road pretty quickly! :D
