From my understanding, it's pretty common. I had mine out before I had my RNY--actually, it was a few months after I had my daughter. I had problems before, but having my daughter seemed to kick up my gallbladder issues.

Having surgery often makes the gallbladder go crazy.  I had gallstones for years without any symptoms, and then when I had my hysterectomy last year, two weeks later I had to have my gallbladder out, as well.  I wish they would just take it out when they do the surgery, but they don't just remove organs without cause.  Good luck!!

Had mine out two months after my gastric bypass. Rapid weightloss of any sort can cause gallstones.
About 35% of post ops have gallbladder issues.

I haven't had surgery yet (March hopefully :)  )  But, I had mine out in 11/2004.  So, mine has been gone for awhile.  You'll feel so much better after it's gone.

I had mine out in 1990 after losing a lot of weight quickly on Nutrisystem. It is not uncommon to have problems with your gallbladder after sudden weight loss or pregnancy.

Good luck. You will feel much better when it is done!
