Tony,

I'm so sorry you're having problems with your relationship and glad that you have come to OH for support.  I am, however, worried about your medical support - you need to be seeing your surgeon for follow up/check up appointments, labs, etc.  If I'm reading this correctly, you're only about 3 weeks out from your surgery.

Have you found a way to handle that part of your weight loss journey?  Best wishes!

Stress is never helpful when you need to recover from a serious surgery.  It is easier for me to say since I'm over the readjustment phase but try to put the GF in a different place and concentrate on yourself for a couple of months.  Putting space between yourself and her will help both of you decide what is important in a relationship.  If she has time to think and you decide to get back together it will be a stronger relationship.  If it doesn't happen that way you will be happier in the long run.  For now you need to be focused on nutrition and getting strong enough to exercise.  Call your doctor's office and ask them what you should do regarding your check ups because they need to keep an eye on your recovery.  If you have a medical problem there will always be someone with an opinion but we aren't doctors, for the most part, and no competent  doctor would ever diagnose your problem online.

Take care of yourself and keep calm.  Your progress will be exciting and something you will really enjoy in the end.  Don't be hesitant to see a counselor if you need help.  Matters of the heart can be very painful.

Thank you everyone for all your support. I really appreciate it. I felt weird coming out and sharing my story. I spoke with my surgeon's office today, and we formulated a plan at least until I return in a month or so. I have started exercising, but this week on top of it all I had a cold. I had a few people reach out to me, and I am certainly going to connect with you. People who are not going through this can't relate, and this is very tough.

So sorry you are going through this!   You MUST make yourself the only priority right now.  protein and hydration are the keys to feeling better.  My emotions calmed down in about 3 months.  Now i am down 129 pounds and I feel like a million bucks!   this will happen for you too, all in time.   Make up your mind to be tough and hang in there.   Don't lose hope that great things are coming your way.

I am 16 months out and have never attended a support meeting after surgery.  This is my support group.  Any questions I have I can get the answers right here.  You may be the type person that needs to physically be a support meeting.  I am not.  I love this forum.  I can get involved or not.  There are people on this site that have been there done that, and support each and every member.  Please Please continue to post your questions. there are no bad questions.  Hopefully this family can help you fill the void.  Good luck and congratulations on your journey.
