bariatric mattresses - the best find ever

I have been looking at  new electric beds (if I ever fall into some money some day) - mine is really old (from my mom before she died 14 years ago) and she used it for about 15 years and I have been using it for about 12 years now. Needless to say it is sagging on the side I sleep due to all the weight I used to carry and the weight she carried. I cant believe how expensive the beds are - like $2,000.

Well, while looking around the internet I found the coolest thing. They have bariatric mattresses and Medicare actually pays for them. When I was in the hospital this past fall and I was on the surgical floor, I actually slept on one since they have bariatric patients from gastric bypass and lap band surgeries but I figures it was just a hospital supply, I never dreamed that we could buy them from a bedding store. It was the most comfortable thing I ever slept on. When I went back to the hospital the next month for my next kidney stone surgery and again for my hernia surgery, I begged for that bed but they are in high demand and I couldnt get one. You have to be lucky to get one. I think they only have 3 of them in the hospital.

If anyone is interested in looking for one, I found them online at sleepstoreusa.com

Unfortunately, Medicare wont pay for the electric bed.  They will pay for hospital beds = they pay for them as rentals but they are horrible - the really thin mattresses and twin just like in the hospital.  What I am looking for are called automatic beds in a full size and those they dont pay for.  They dont consider them medically necessary.  I need the elevated head but I also need the thick padding with a full size.   I physically cant lay flat  = my neck cant go straight so I have to have the bed elevated.  I also used to sleep on my side but in the past few months, I cant do that anymore since it causes terrible hip pain. So, I just sleep partly elevated and it is much more comfortable and I wake up with much less pain(less pressure on my lumbar spine also)

I'm saving up for a tempurpedic, personally. enlightenedMy  gerd is long gone but I still want the up and down option and massage mattress. Going to take time to come up with the $$$ but they're rated for 20 years, so I'm think long term investment.  Maybe a discontinued model? They sometimes go for 1/2 the cost?
