Yes, he did. The vet said that for him to go downhill so very quickly, he almost certainly had cancer elsewhere in his body for quite some time. Scotties -- like Chows -- are very stoic about illness and pain, so it is hard to know when they don't feel well until something is very wrong.
It was so sad to go to bed last night without him. I have not been without a Scottie in the house for more than 2 days since 1985, so it is going to be quite an adjustment.

That really sucks. I'm sorry to hear this. I had to put my cat Percy down a few years ago due to cancer and she also went downhill very fast. I've never cried so hard. It was very difficult. Hugs to you today. After he is gone maybe you can spend some time alone remembering and take care of yourself in a unique way. Be gentle on yourself. It's very hard losing a close friend. I'm sorry and hope you feel at peace with this.
