RNY 12/11/12 now so tired in afternoons
I am just about 4 weeks out and have noticed I get pretty tired by afternoon. I walk everyday, get all my water in and all my protein in. I find I do better with 70-80 protein.
Will have my first blood draw in a few weeks with f/u dr appt for eval.
Just wondered if this happened to anyone else and if there are any suggestions. I do take my vits, ca etc.

I was very lactose intolerant the first 2 weeks post op so I got some soy protein which has 25g and then gradually if I mix that with whey protein, I do not seem to have the problem. So I load my shake up with 25g soy protein, 25g whey protein and throw in non fat dry milk for another 8! There is 58g of protein right there!
I love water so I have no problem with getting it in but it is a sip sip sip thing. Constantly! It does get easier!
Have you tried some of the add in flavoring for the water? Like propel or ocean spray or crystal lite? Some people think it helps them. What about sugar free popsicles or sf italian ice? That counts as water!
I found putting myself on a schedule helped. Breakfast 8 am, protein shake 10am, lunch 1 pm, dinner 6 pm. Sometimes I have another shake.
Good luck!
6 years out. And it was very hard to get all the water in at first. Think it took me almost 2 months before I could steadily drink my 64+ oz a day. I average about 80-96 now. But I remember for my protein, I would add my whey powder to my YOGURT (vanilla) and it would make it a little thicker (and Greek yogurt has even more protein), and I'd make the SF pudding, with non-fat milk, and add a scoop of my protein to that, then portion it out. Hubby would even eat the pudding and not complain :)
I never had any complications or strictures/swallowing issues.. it's just hard to get all the water you're supposed to, plus allow time to quit drinking before and after meals..etc.
Congratulations on the start of your journey, don't get discouraged
I napped for the first month straight.. hubby would look over and I'd be asleep sitting up at my computer. Wasn't much better in month 2, was like surgery induced narcolepsy. LOL
But around month 3, the tired was mostly after meals, and a good walk burned that off. My labs always came back fine, so it was just my body saying, "Hey, Dummy, they just rearranged your psyiology..go take a nap, or rest!"
