Can we take Ativan?

I don't know if I spelled that right.

Anyways, can we take Ativan? I'm going on a trip and asked my doctor for a prescription to keep me calm on the plane ride. He gave me Ativan. I didn't even think of asking until now! I started thinking, wait a minute, I can take NSAIDs because of the RNY, who knows about this?

I know who knows! My OH support! You guys always have an answer! So anyone know if its safe to take?

Yes it's for anxiety. I have it for when needed. Take it at home the first time it knocks me out so I take only half of one when needed.

Thank you! I wasn't sure. I tried to look up info but was having trouble finding anything RNY related. I was worried we couldn't absorb it right.

Lol! See I've never taken anything so I'm worried, but also curious. I wonder if I should take one now just to try....

If I don't answer back, it's probably cause I'm knocked out!

I take it as needed for PTSD related anxiety and have not noticed any difference in absorption from pre-op.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

That's good to hear, especially from you. I value your advice, big time!

I need to take it occasionally to turn my brain off. It works just the same for me post-op as pre-op.

I take it when I get anxiety attacks. It absolutely works.

I'm not quite 1 month PO and they gave it to me in the hospital after surgery to help me cope with being in the hospital (I get panic attacks in unfamiliar places sometimes). I took it before surgery and I've taken it several times over the last month and haven't had any problems. If anything, I feel like it works better now (possibly because there's less food in my digestive track to slow down absorption?)
